Miguel has over 20 years of experience in education. Miguel began his career as an Intervention Specialist in the Edison Local School District. He currently serves as the Literacy Coach/Specialist for the district. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from West Liberty University before receiving his Master’s Degree from West Virginia University. Miguel was a 2020 Ohio Teacher of the Year nominee and served as a member on Ohio’s Literacy Workgroup Committee. Miguel assisted with the development of a comprehensive State Literacy plan that was implemented in the spring of 2020. He also serves as a National LETRS Professional Learning Facilitator providing professional learning on the Science of Reading to thousands of educators across the country. Miguel is a Certified Dyslexia Practitioner, Acadience Reading Mentor, and a PELI (Pre-School Early Literacy Indicators) Mentor. When he is not furthering his knowledge on the science of reading, he can be found working in the garage on his collection of vintage Corvettes.
