What inspired you to become a teacher?
I became a teacher by a random twist of fate. So, I guess Liz Hofreuter inspired me to be a teacher- or persuaded me.
Who inspires you the most?
The answer varies from day to day, but for the most part, my siblings inspire me.
What adjectives would you use to describe your presence in the classroom?
Unpredictable.
How has becoming a teacher changed for you over the years?
It has forced me to become a better decision-maker under pressure. It has helped me to fortify my patience and mental stamina. Most importantly, it has allowed me to get in touch with the compassionate part of myself.
If you weren’t teaching, what career would you have chosen?
I probably would be working with my hands.
Growing up, who was your most inspirational teacher and why?
I was lucky to have many influential teachers, but my 5th grade teacher Mrs. Chacalos takes the cake. She always carried a vibrant, positive energy, and she was one of the first teachers to inspire me to write.
What impact or legacy do you hope to leave to your students?
I want them to feel free in their expression, and I really hope to inspire them to always be appreciative of what’s in front of them.
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement as a teacher so far?
I don’t know.
What are some of the most important life skills you hope to instill in your students?
Writing. Proactivity?
