Junior Kindergarten Co-Teacher

Wheeling Country Day School is seeking an experienced co-teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. This individual must be highly collaborative, a skilled communicator, and have an understanding of child development within a constructivist/progressive philosophy.  In particular, an understanding of inquiry-based teaching and the Reggio-Emilia philosophy are valued among our teaching team. The chosen candidate must also be willing to participate actively in the Diversity and Inclusion cohort, reporting directly to both the Head of School and the Director of Advancement to improve principles and practices within our school. 

Our faculty is collaborative and innovative and we seek candidates to complement the strengths of our program and to add his or her own expertise and background to provide excellent educational opportunities for our students. We are a vibrant professional learning community for children, parents and teachers. Teachers receive regular support from colleagues and administrators. Regular professional development opportunities are provided and encouraged.

We are seeking qualified applicants with the following:

    • a bachelor’s degree in elementary education or early childhood education (masters preferred)
    • passion for teaching young children 
    • a flexible, creative, and enthusiastic approach to learning and collaborating 
    • experience working with children in an educational early childhood setting
    • commitment to diversity and a strong interest in planning programming in our diversity, equity, and inclusion work
    • familiarity with child development 
    • facility with technology
    • enthusiasm about our school’s mission and vision
