Wheeling Country Day School Fund

Gifts to this annual fund help support the many expenses associated with providing the high-quality, personalized academic experience offered at Wheeling Country Day School. Your tax-deductible, charitable contribution to Wheeling Country Day School helps address institutional priorities such as technology, capital improvements and maintenance, professional development and compensation for teachers, curriculum materials, program development, and tuition-assistance. As an independent school, Wheeling Country Day School relies heavily on the generosity of parents, alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations to fill the gap between the cost of educating and the revenue generated from tuition. Gifts to the annual fund can be made by check, cash, or the transfer of stock.

Tribute Gifts

Tribute gifts are a wonderful means of memorializing or honoring a family member, friend, or special events such as a birthday or anniversary while supporting Wheeling Country Day School. “Gifts In Memory Of” or “In Honor Of” alumni, friends, faculty, staff and students are a meaningful way to commemorate an individual’s connection to the school while investing in the institution that has meant so much to them. Gifts of this nature can be made by writing a check to Wheeling Country Day School at 8 Orchard Rd., Wheeling, WV 26003. For a memorial gift, please indicate the following: the name of the deceased, the name of the surviving spouse or family member to whom notice of this gift is to be sent. A letter will be sent to the surviving family member with the name and address of the donor, but not the gift amount. For a honorarium, please note: the name of the person(s) to be honored. A letter will be sent to the honoree with the name and address of the donor(s), but not the gift amount. Please also include your phone number in the event that there are questions while WCDS is processing the gift.

Planned Gifts

There are many methods to make a gift through your estate plans to invest in the future of Wheeling Country Day School. The most common and simplest planned giving method is in the form of a bequest naming Wheeling Country Day School as a beneficiary of a specific dollar amount or percentage of your estate. Contributions through life-income vehicles such as a charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, and charitable lead trusts can provide income to you or loved one while offering tax-advantages. Donors may also designate Wheeling Country Day School as a beneficiary of life insurance or retirement assets. Please consult your attorney or financial advisor to discuss which charitable giving option is best for you.

Create a Legacy of Support through an Endowed Fund

You can ensure that your annual support for WCDS continues in perpetuity by establishing an endowed fund with Wheeling Country Day School. Endowments, often referred to as “the gifts that keep on giving” are permanently invested by the School and a portion of the income generated from that investment is used for the purpose you wishh to support, such as scholarships, faculty professional development, programs, faculty positions, and more. Another portion of the income is reinvested each year, allowing the endowment to grow and provide a permanent stream of income over time. Funds can be established through current annual gifts, deferred gifts such as a bequest, or a combination of the two.
