Family involvement is critical for children’s learning and development in elementary school. We believe that family involvement is an ongoing, embedded part of our school’s value, so we want to give you a variety of opportunities to share your skills, interests and time with our school community. As we encourage the students to become active in community service, we also want to impress upon them that service to your school community is a great place to start. If you are able to offer your time or services, please indicate using the form below. Click here to download a form with a list of volunteer opportunities.

At Wheeling Country Day School, your child’s/children’s safety is our utmost concern. In an effort to take necessary measures to ensure the safety of your children and WCDS staff and patrons, we will ask for appropriate background checks. Each employee, volunteer or chaperone at WCDS must complete and consent to a background check. Eligibility may be based upon information obtained y WCDS in conjunction with the information obtained from the background check. Please complete the Confidential Background Check Authorization form, available in the office. If you do not fill out the authorization in its entirety, your application will be denied. A classroom guest, including guest readers, do not have to have a background check on file because they are under the direct supervision of a faculty member.

Confidentiality.

Respecting confidentiality is important to protect the rights of WCDS students. Volunteers may observe academic performance or minor disciplinary action. These should be treated with strict confidentiality. If a volunteer has a concern, they should speak with the appropriate teacher or Head of School about the matter.
