This page is a work in progress. Check back regularly for information and guidelines for remote learning at WCDS.

Use the boxes below to access each of the WCDS Remote Learning classrooms. This page will serve as a static hub for campuswide information and hopefully save you the headache of searching through email inboxes for ‘that one with the Zoom meeting link’. As always, specific daily information on activities will be maintained by individual homeroom teachers.

Stay healthy out there.

It’s important to us that you understand following recommended schedules are guidelines for online learning. These are not steadfast schedules, nor do we expect or want your children to be in front of a screen all day long. Much of our learning will be asynchoronous in that students may self-pace at times.

To our students, take time to stand up and move, to prepare and eat healthy foods, to read for pleasure, to laugh and to learn something you never thought you’d have a chance to learn during the school year. This is a new day and of all places to embrace this moment and find the opportunities within, it’s possible here.

WCDS Remote Learning Code of Conduct

Be punctual and prepared. challenging, but it will be one of the necessary skills to develop. Do your best to keep track of your meeting times. If you are late, join anyway and apologize at the end. When you join a meeting, you will be muted on entry – like walking into a room respectfully.

Be focused.
While it may not always be possible to find a completely quiet place to learn, try to find a place that will be least distracting to you and other attendees. Wearing headphones/earphones (especially with a mic) will make this much easier for everyone.

Be seen and heard.
Unless unavailable to you, everyone should join with video AND audio. Position yourself in a front-lit space so everyone can see your face, and stay in one place so you don’t compromise your connection (or the equilibrium of your peers). Identify yourself with your real name.

Be respectful.
Wear clothes that adhere to what is appropriate at school. Sit or stand rather than fully recline. Be mindful of what we can see in your video.

Zoom Guidelines
  1. Everyone will be muted on entry.
  2. Unless unavailable to you, everyone should be on video AND audio.
  3. Everyone must be identified by their real name.
  4. Unless unavailable to you, everyone should Zoom on a computer or iPad rather than an iPhone.
  5. It is best to use earphones.
  6. Be aware of ambient noise. It needs to be quiet.
  7. Be aware of what we can see in your video. We will help with this.

Our number one priority is the mental and emotional health of the kids. With that in mind, let’s all work together in this new frontier. If you have questions or need help with anything, please don’t hesitate to ask.
