Dynamic, Empathetic, and Supportive

How has becoming a teacher changed for you over the years?

Patience! It’s required me to slow down and find joy in little victories and aha moments.

If you weren’t teaching, what career would you have chosen?

I would either be a mental health counselor or an FBI agent!

Growing up, who was your most inspirational teacher and why?

I think back to my junior year high school English teacher – Mr. Joliffe. His passion for teaching and investment in his students was infectious. He made learning fun and instilled in his students that it was okay to ask questions and explore new ideas.

What impact or legacy do you hope to leave to your students?

That all kids can do difficult things. Anything is possible if you find a way, persevere, and don’t give up. You have to believe in yourself and have the confidence to do hard things.

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement as a teacher so far?

I have had the honor of taking students to various countries for sightseeing and tours of major attractions around the globe. I think understanding the workings of different cultures is instrumental for students to become global citizens of the world.

What are some of the most important life skills you hope to instill in your students?
