Free Structured-Literacy Assessment

For possible In-Person or Virtual Literacy Tutoring Intervention

Who can Participate?

Students or Adults who struggle with reading, spelling, and/or writing; or are diagnosed with dyslexia or suspected of having dyslexia.

How Does it Work?

The free assessment consists of a thirty-minute session using an informal battery of assessments that focuses on word recognition, the ability to identify and manipulate individual sounds in spoken words, and the ability to read distinct letter(s) to signify a sound or sounds.

Where?

Assessments will be conducted in-person at Wheeling Country Day School (WCDS) located at 8 Park Road, Wheeling, WV 26003 or virtually via Google Meets, by appointment only.

When are the Assessments?

Scheduling the Assessment

Click on the “Schedule an Appointment” or copy and paste the link below into a web browser to complete a Pre-Assessment Questionnaire. This will prepare our Evaluators prior to the Assessment. You will then will be directed to schedule the appropriate appointment based on your preferred Assessment method (In-Person or Virtual).

After the Assessment

The Adult or Parents will be contacted by our Direct-2-Family Site Coordinator with results. Those who qualify for result-proven reading intervention utilizing the Orton-Gillingham approach or Structured Literacy approach will be provided tutoring options and pricing per session.

*One-on-one sessions may also be available at the discretion of the Site Coordinator.

Orton-Gillingham or Structured Literacy Tutoring are conducted in-person at Wheeling Country Day School (for locals residing near Wheeling, WV) or virtually, nationwide.
